Slowly but surely, those oh-so-juicy details are leaking out about Endless Ideas’ upcoming duo of e-readers. We’ve now learned that the BeBook mini will boast the same specifications as the original BeBook, save for the much more compact 5-inch display; if all goes well, it should be available for purchase this summer for €199 ($270). Moving on to the BeBook 2, we’ve learned that it will include both WiFi and 3G access right out of the box, and the company is currently working with mobile operators in Germany and France in hopes of providing Kindle-like data access for on-the-go book downloads. Unfortunately, it looks like the asking price of that one will hover in the €350 ($476) to €400 ($544) range, but you can check out a Dutch interview with the new announcements just past the break.

Lenovo’s 14-inch IdeaPad Y450 is now on sale from the company’s online store — about a month later than originally intended, but better late than never, right? Prices start at $679 for a 2.16GHz Intel Dual Core T3400 and go all the way up to $829 for a 2GHz Intel Core 2 Duo T6400, 4GB DDR3 SDRAM, and 320GB HDD. All models feature an Intel GMA 4500MHD, DVD writer, Windows Vista Home Premium, and a 6-cell battery. If the 16-inch Y650 was just a little too pricey or bulky for your tastes, this should do the trick — at least until the 15.6-inch Y550 pops in to fill that void in between.

Amiga owners are a loyal bunch. And they have to be — stuck with a machine frozen in time (even if OS 5 was claimed to be “better than OS X”) and little in the way of support, the manner in which they’ve stubbornly stuck with the platform over the years can only be described as a labor of love. If you’ve been wondering what all the fuss is about but no longer have a PowerPC-based Amiga system handy, the MorphOS Dev Team has just announced that its latest — MorphOS 2.4 — now supports Mac mini G4 machines. Available now, you can either hit the read link to download for yourself, or wait until the upcoming Amiga user group meeting in Bad Bramstedt, Germany. You know, whatever you find more convenient. As for us, we’re going to go play a game of Ooops Up! for old time’s sake.

It’s got a 5-inch e-ink display and reportedly all the same features as its older brother. Manufacturer Tianjin Jinke Electronics also happens to sell products under the Hanlin brand, and this looks to be the same device as the upcoming Hanlin v5, which according to Chinese site mobread would indicate SD card support and a May release window locally. As for elsewhere in the world, there’s no indication of a release date, but BeBook Twitter feed did tease about staying under the $200 / €200 price barrier.

This means that anyone who hasn’t taken the time to install the update of their own accord is just about to get hooked up without any intervention whatsoever, bringing third-party widget support, a virtual keyboard, email and messaging improvements, a revised UI, and of course, an endless font of delicious pastries that will make you morbidly obese if you eat enough of them over time. Honestly, while you’re waiting for the update to arrive, hop on the Bowflex for a few minutes. It’s not going to kill you.

This latest move, of course, follows complaints that new licensing issues with Windows 7 could cause some serious headaches for businesses still hanging onto XP, and basically force them to either stock up on XP-ready systems before April 23rd, 2010 or face the possibility of Vista-only downgrades thereafter. The new deadline isn’t quite as clear cut as past ones, however, with Microsoft saying only that the XP downgrade option will be available for 18 months after the release of Windows 7, “or until the release of a Windows 7 service pack, whichever is sooner.” So, as ComputerWorld notes, if Microsoft pushes an SP1 update out the door six months after Windows 7 is released, folks could well be out of luck yet again — at least until Microsoft sets a new deadline, that is.

You know that UMD-to-PSP Go conversion program? Ain’t gonna happen. The “good will” program that would have provided free (or at least heavily discounted) digital copies of games already purchased on UMD discs has been scrapped. A spokesman for SCEA said, “We were evaluating a UMD conversion program, but due to legal and technical reasons we will not be offering the program at this time.” Adding insult to injury, the PSP Go Rewards program offering 3 free games to European UMD owners will not be offered in the US. That’s the bad news. The not so bad news is that 16,000 pieces of digital content will be available for the US PSP Go launch on October 1st. These include 225 downloadable games (full PSP titles, PSN exclusives, UMD legacy titles, and Minis), 2,300 films, and 13,300 television episodes. Still, not quite the “at least 300″ digital games we were expecting. So US PSP owners, still planning to “upgrade?”
